Fran’s own lived experiences led her to search for alternative ways of understanding trauma and healing. When she discovered Havening, she realised the endless possibilities and hope Havening has to offer.

Fran has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with a variety of presenting issues, childhood trauma, domestic abuse, assault, miscarriage trauma, and many other traumatic events and experiences which have left life-altering consequences.  Distressing memories, emotions, and phobias. Chronic stress, workplace stress, and post-traumatic stress, to name but a few.

She has delivered numerous introductions to Havening including tailored and collaborative introductions such as  - Introducing Havening: a therapeutic approach to the long term mind-body effects of childhood trauma and the effectiveness for those at risk/in the care system. Fran has shared self-havening with various groups including those who’ve experienced different adverse childhood experiences, women in recovery, and nursing students for workplacement stress and building resilience.

Aside from Havening, some of Fran's contributions include many years of experience in elderly, end of life and palliative care; served as a trustee for the Open Nest — a charity born from personal experiences of adoption and long term fostering of traumatised children; is an independent panel member for an adoption panel; and co-founder of the Transracial Adult Adoptee Network (TAAN).

Additionally, Fran was involved in the early beginnings of Tina's Haven—a catalyst for emancipatory praxis, rooted in nature, creativity, and collective healing for women separated from their children due to trauma-based addictions. She also wrote the foreword for the powerful anthology  ‘It’s Not Symptomatic, It’s Systemic from Sunday Mornings at the River, that unravels the intricate layers of trauma, resilience, and the systemic forces that shape our lives.

Fran works one to one, in person in Bromley and online worldwide. She welcomes contact to discuss sessions, or to discuss introductions to Havening, self-Havening workshops, or training opportunities.

Childhood Sexual Abuse.

I went to see Fran after she was recommended to me. I was incredibly apprehensive due to past experiences of support which made me feel worse, but I felt like Fran really understood this. There were no long assessments, or talking and Fran explained what a session looked like before our sessions which really helped me. Havening was an experience that I wasn't expecting. After all these years my childhood memories no longer haunt me and my mental health has dramatically improved.

Anorexia

I was at another hospital appointment, I had lost 3kg in a week and my therapist was on the verge of admitting me. She said if I lost anymore weight I would definitely see my life pass away whilst being fed from a tube in a stuffy hospital. My parents were losing hope and then Fran was recommended to us. The first week I didn’t even want to mention food, and Fran said we didn’t even need to, though less than half way through our sessions I found myself actively talking about food, healthier lifestyles and thinking. Fran felt like a person I trusted and could confide in unlike the other people who never truly understood me. I had two havening sessions and around eight coaching sessions with Fran and I’m already back at a healthy weight. I have learnt new ways to manage things and am feeling more confident about the future. I am grateful to Fran for her support and am certain many other girls with eating disorders would benefit from working with her.

Trapped by Husband's Death - PTSD/Grief

I was unfortunate to witness the sudden death of my husband when I was 39 which left me with PTSD. Over the years I had therapy and continued living but still felt trapped as whenever I though about my husbands death I would relive that night and I could instantly feel all the same emotions. I had accepted that this is what was meant by learning to live with death and that I just had to find coping mechanisms.

Then I was introduced to Havening, having read about it I was sceptical but understood the science so thought it was worth exploring further. I then met Fran, she explained the basics of what I needed to know and I had my first Havening session. After that first session I could no long feel any emotions connected to that night and when I recall it, I am looking down on events, I am no longer in the situation.

For me getting rid of the trauma was so profound, a single session had done more for me than any previous therapy I had ever had. After the first session though, I started to feel incredibly emotional and I couldn’t understand why. I would fluctuate from feeling love, to sadness, anger and pain.

When Fran and I reconnected, Fran reiterated pop up effects but I had been so elated with my first session I didn't pay enough attention as to this was what was happening. Fran explained that first session had unblocked the original trauma, and behind it was all these suppressed emotions. I was literally going through the grief cycle but rapidly.

In my second session we worked through my emotions, the most suppressed one had been anger, and having got it out, I was finally at peace. Fran saw me for a third session just to follow up and make sure that I was doing ok. Which I was and am.

Havening has changed my life as I am no longer trapped by my husbands death and trying to survive. I am now alive and living my life to the full. Fran is an excellent practitioner, so caring and an amazing person. I am so grateful that I met her, Fran has given me my life back in 3 sessions!

CPTSD. CSA. Abusive Mother in Adulthood.

After six sessions of Havening I have experienced more breakthroughs than I ever have before. Long standing issues have gone and symptoms/effects of CPTSD gone. I have tried various forms of therapy such as, EMDR, CBT, Reiki, but have found Havening to be the most helpful. Good memories of my childhood I had blocked out I now remember. Coping mechanisms I had developed as a result of ACEs have fallen away. Negative repetitive thought patterns have gone. My flight, fight, freeze response has completely calmed down and I can now recall events in my life that no longer have any emotional charge. Havening has allowed me to experience the present moment much more and see the beauty in being in the now and know I am safe.

Autism and School Related Trauma

Finding Fran has been a godsend for my teenage Autistic daughter who was suffering from
major school-related trauma. We saw Fran just before lockdown and then on Zoom calls
during the pandemic. We have found her to be hugely supportive, adaptable and available.
Her therapeutic interventions have really helped calm my daughter’s anxiety and OCD. She
has helped both of us when we have been at our lowest points. When other agencies were
not available to help us Fran was there. I can not speak highly enough about her skill and
strengths as a Havening practitioner.
